Sussanahs

Sussanahs Boutique began well over 50 years ago. First established in the small coastal town of Caloundra, on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, Australia. The boutique was named after the original owner whose name was Sussanah. There has only been three owners since its inception and I took the store over in March 2007.

I grew up on a dairy farm in Nanneella, which is a farming area outside of Echuca in the area of the Riverina. The Murray River is a huge attraction in this area of Victoria. My father was initially a sheep farmer but then moved into dairying in later years. I have fond memories of helping out in the shearing shed as a child which has cradled my love of fine Australian merino wool. Natural fibres are so great to wear as they naturally regulate to your body temperature, which means they are cool in summer and warm in winter. The other natural fibres I love are linen, cotton, viscose, and bamboo. Since taking over the store, I've found that many customers share my passion.

In 2008 the original building changed hands and the new owner extended the premises to make Sussanahs of Caloundra an unforgettable shopping experience. In July 2015 Sussanahs moved from its orginal postion to 27 Bulcock Street, Caloundra. 

In April 2017, we moved back to Victoria and opened Sussanahs on Sturt, 729 Sturt St, Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. Since opening it has been received very well and we thank all of our wonderful customers for their loyal support both locally and Australia-wide.

Regrettably in May 2019, we closed Sussanahs of Caloundra to focus solely on our Ballarat store and our extensive online store. We knew that we would not lose contact with all of the wonderful customers we had built a rapport with in the many years we were in Caloundra.

Sussanahs is an iconic place to shop within the Ballarat and broader community and stocks a wide varierty of brands and styles. Due to my love of natural fibres, I specialise in clothing that has been created from wool, cotton, linen, and bamboo. I have found that people enjoy the quality of high class fabrics. Over the years we have found that many of our shoppers like to support Australian made products. We have done much research in this area and as a result, have found a great Australian knitwear label Dianne Frank, which is proudly made in Melbourne, Australia. Pah Fashions and DOMCHI are also proudly Australian designed and made. We highly value our customer feedback and work closely with the designers to produce the collars, pockets, and sleeves that are frequently requested so our Australian made designs are exclusive to Sussanahs.
